Greetings Horror Fans

First off, thanks for checking out http://www.the10poundhorrorfilm.com/

So what is there to write in this debut blog?

Well, I suppose a bit of background to myself would be useful.

My name is Luke Dormehl (that is a Dutch South African surname for those
of you who are wondering) and I've been making films since I was eight.
The first one was ironically (or perhaps just prophetically) a horror
film: an eight year olds version of ALIEN (which is more-or-less like a
chest-bursting version of Citizen Kane for people who love horror films).

I made short films all the way through primary and senior school before
talking my way on to a film set one summer holidays to work as a
Production Assistant (you know, those people who make coffee for the
extras on a film set). After school I took a gap year and spent it
working for a local television production company making the most
embarrassing corporate videos ever.

Things got serious when I went to university. In a move which I hope
will get the sympathy (although probably not the empathy) of students
everywhere, I gave up alcohol for three years as well as using my
student loan and working as a bin man and milk factory worker in order
to buy myself film equipment. Using this I started making documentaries,
the most recent of which comes out next month and Ill provide more
details nearer the time.

So what will the end result of this project be? Well, hopefully it will
end up with a finished feature-length horror film in your local cinemas.
At absolute worse, this website will offer a fascinating look at what it
takes to put a film together. Every single success, failure, triumph,
trauma et al will be recorded here; giving you an insight into how a
film like this comes together.

Right now, thanks to the support of horror icons like Kane Hodder
(Jason in Friday the 13th), filmmakers like Jonathan King (Black Sheep)
and Adam Green (Hatchet) we have the best start you could want for a project like this.

In subsequent blog instalments, I will fill you in on how we got to the
point we are currently with this project, but in the meantime, please sign up to the website. It only costs £10 to support this film, and the end result is going to be fantastic! Otherwise, just drop me an email lukedormehl@the10poundhorrorfilm.com with a couple of words of encouragement
or any questions you may have.

Until next time --

Excelsior!

Luke Dormehl
